Went to work after graduation and encouraged by a draft notice in late 1963 I enrolled at Delhi Tech. Graduated from Delhi and completed a BS at Oklahoma State in December, 1968. Served as President of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity during my senior year. Hired by Corning Glass in January 1969, lasted 6 months and got drafted anyway. After 2 years with Uncle, came back for 1 year with Corning and left to go with what was then known as Dart Industries. Dart Industries merged with Kraft Foods in 1980, Kraft was spun off in the mid 80's and Premark Corporation was formed. In 1999 Premark Corporation was acquired by Illinois Tool Works. (Corporate America at it's finest). After 21 years of numerous corporate moves and a variety of Human Resources Management positions under my belt, I left to become a Human Resources Consultant in Louisville, KY. for 8 years prior to retirement in late 1998. During the entire decade of the 70's I taught Management classes at night for Corning Community College and Elmira College. Having found a nitch I enjoyed, I continued to teach workshops for the University of Louisville, from the mid 80's until the late 90's, and conducted scores of Management Seminars for consulting clients. While living in the Elmira/Corning area in the early 1970’s I began working as a high school football official. I did this for 28 years and worked in four states (New York, Illinois, Ohio and Indiana). In 1997 I hung up my “yellow flags” and retired from the consulting business. In 1998 my wife Sandy and I built our retirement home on a golf course in Western North Carolina. Then in 2005 we purchased a winter getaway home in Lakeland, Florida. I learned that it sometimes snows in the mountains and you could lose your golf ball. In spite of the sand traps in Florida I don’t lose as many. I have one son Scott. He graduated from Western Kentucky University where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and a 4 year cheerleader. He is living in Louisville, KY and working in media sales. My 91 year old Mother still lives in the area (Ithaca, NY) in assisted living. My sister Pat, a graduate from CV ’66 and her husband also live in Ithaca. I’m looking forward to the 50th reunion and seeing everyone. |
