2002 Reunion Memories

School Tour
September 13, 2002 - 2:30 P.M.

We started the tour in the temporary cafeteria of the Junior High (oops, the "Middle School") wing which is temporarily actually the Senior High wing while the junior high (er, middler) schoolers are temporarily attending somewhere else due to the remodelling of the Senior High wing. The tour would have brought back fond memories of sitting in classrooms and roaming the halls except that we never sat in these classrooms nor roamed these halls due to the fact that these classrooms and halls did not exist at the time we were in middle (damn! JUNIOR HIGH) school which explains the blank, lost looks on our faces. Moving through what used to be the cafeteria (now pretty much just a hallway) we went to the Senior High side where it was even less familiar. The old brown and blue wall tiles have been replaced with bright grey and red, the wash basins for the restrooms are now in the hallways and many of the halls are blocked due to the construction. The auditorium was the only place that had not changed in forty years. But even though their classrooms have been demolished, if you were very quiet you could still hear the echoes of Mrs. Holmwood, Mrs. Liddy, Mrs. Hardy and all the other great teachers of our day. You didn't have to keep very quiet to hear the echoes of Mr. Weckel, however, since he was right there with us just as animated as ever.
