Farewell

Farewell, but ever bear in mind
       The kindred heart you've left behind;
It throbbing fain the truth would tell
It almost bursts to say - Farewell.

Farewell, but ever with you bear
My heartfelt wish, my earnest prayer.
But words are all too weak to tell
The pain I feel to say - Farewell.

Farewell, when fancy bids you roam
To seek again your early home -
Remember every charm and spell
That made it dear to thee - Farewell.

Farewell I love thee dearly
There's many that I love full well
And many who love me dearly
But none so loving as thou. Farewell.

Farewell - be true to every vow
That, in our bosoms holds confinement,
May absence never break the spell
Of youthful hopes - Farewell - Farewell.

Thursday night January 10th 1850
and pretty tired of it.
